Reiki is a form of alternative medicine that originated in Japan in 1922. It is a form of spiritual healing meant to reduce stress, promote relaxation and help combat physical, mental, and emotional sickness. Its methods are simple, safe, and natural, as treatment is administered mainly by laying hands on specific parts of the body such as the head, shoulders, stomach, and feet. This method is otherwise known as “palm healing”, and is a treatment that can be used by anyone, even on themselves, as a form of treatment.
Through this course you will:
– Understand the fundamental concepts of Reiki including energy activation, energetic shifts and tapping into the flow of Reiki
– Discuss what healing sessions involve and what to expect
– Learn theories behind how to perform general Reiki techniques
– Accomplish self-healing and healing others
– Know how to enumerate the chakra centres in the body corresponding with healing specific parts of the body
It has grown internationally as a popular career option to be a Reiki practitioner either privately or for work, and this course is a stepping stone in learning Reiki.
Today there are several variations of Reiki, and its teachings, precepts, and principles are taught all over the world. While it is not considered a substitute for traditional medicine used to cure disease, Reiki is believed to promote wellness in a person’s body and mind that seeks to restore balance and harmony in their energy and spiritual life force.
Reiki is believed to have been rediscovered and developed by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist lay monk, who is stated to have taught Reiki to more than 2,000 people in his lifetime. Before he passed away, a student master of his, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi received the approval of Usui to open a Reiki clinic in Tokyo, helping to increase the popularity of Reiki in Japan. It was at this clinic that Hawayo Takata, a student and future Reiki master living in Hawaii embraced this form of wellness healing, and shared her knowledge upon her return to the United States, contributing to the spread of Reiki in the western world and beyond.
